Optimizing Water Treatment with Smart Level Monitoring
How a municipal utility improved operations with advanced level sensors

The Springfield Water Utility faced challenges with inconsistent level measurements in their treatment plant clarifiers, leading to suboptimal chemical dosing and occasional overflow incidents. After implementing our WM-RLS-700 radar level sensors with continuous monitoring capabilities, the utility achieved significant improvements in process stability and operational efficiency. The non-contact radar technology eliminated maintenance issues associated with previous float-based systems, while the high accuracy (±2mm) enabled precise control of sludge withdrawal rates. Integration with the plant's SCADA system provided operators with real-time visibility into tank levels, enabling proactive adjustments to chemical feed rates. The result was a 15% reduction in chemical consumption, elimination of overflow incidents, and a 25% decrease in maintenance costs. The utility has since expanded the solution to their distribution storage tanks.
